Summary:
Ensures safety and injury prevention for patients at high risk for falls, elopement, and other at risk behaviors including disruption of treatment through continual visual surveillance via remote monitoring system. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behavior. If warranted appropriate nursing staff would be contacted if patient requires direct assistance. Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) confidentiality along with related safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Consistently communicates with clinical team based on observation feedback of patients and waits for replacement prior to vacating the monitoring station for any reason to ensure constant patient observation remains intact.Performs continual 24/7 visual and digital 2-way audio surveillance of up to twelve (12) patients, on up to three (3) monitors which communicates directly with assigned patients via observation software.Responsible for providing through hand-off report utilizing standardized electronic medical review for transition of duties.Responsible for timely and accurate documentation of patient activity, interactions, and communication to the clinical team according to policy, protocol and/or standard of work in the electronic medical records.Participates in the collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues and assures patient environment safety. Immediately follows the departmental protocol/guidelines and seeks assistance from the clinical team when patient appears to pose a threat to self and others.

Education and Certification Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Complexity of Work: This role requires critical thinking skills, high focus and attention to detail, effectively communicate in English both verbal and written, decisive judgment, and the ability to build and foster positive relationships. Basic computer operation skills, maintain medical records, and the ability to pay strict attention to patient and surrounding environment for any other potential risk factors. Also to be efficient in multitasking and managing the various job duties described. Required Work Experience: No prior work experience but basic computer knowledge required. Previous hospital/clinical/direct patient care experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
