The Role
We have an opportunity for a Marine or Naval Engineer with interests or experience in marine forensic investigation , litigation support, risk loss consulting , repair , and retrofit design . Curiosity , engineering excellence , and solid writing skills are required for this position . You will have the opportunity to lead investigations in the seaport and waterfront-built environment , industrial facilities , marine infrastructure, transportation sector and high-tech applications . You will be supported in this role by a diverse multidisciplinary team ranging from entry-level engineers to senior management .
Position Description
We will provide you the opportunity to manage projects independently and support engineers in the Forensics practice on projects as needed . We will support you in business development activities such as conferences and business development events .
You will be working directly with a wide variety of clients , including attorneys , vessel and seaport and terminal property owners , contractors , and insurance professionals , on a wide range of investigations which may involve :
• Mooring, Towing, and Anchoring Analyses
• Hull Damage Assessments and Repair Plans
• Dry Dock, Graving Dock, and Ship Lift
• Vessel Marine Casualty or Accident Investigation
• Structural and Material Failure Analysis
• Mechanical Failure Analysis
• Naval Architecture
• Equipment Breakdown
• Root Cause Analysis
• Equipment Damage Assessment
• Equipment Loss Consulting and Mitigation
• Fire Protection and Detection Systems
You may be called to serve as an expert witness in various scenarios , including depositions , mediations , arbitrations , and trials . We will support you should such matters arise .
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in maritime or naval engineering is required .
- Master's degree in related field preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in the Maritime and Naval field.
- Marine and Naval Architecture Professional Engineering (PE) License in at least one jurisdiction and the ability to obtain licensure in others .
- Ability to bring or develop a book of business.
- Ability to write reports that clearly express engineering opinions and conclusions and support these conclusions / opinions with facts and sound engineering principles .
- Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines, meet deadlines and travel to work sites.
- Ability and willingness to travel to short durations for certain assignments.
CompensationThe rate for this position generally is$150,000-$250,000annually.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the Washington State Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful Washington State applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in Washington State or perform the position from Washington State. Similar positions located outside of Washington State will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byWashingtonEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
