Job Description

The individual in this role functions as a Regulatory Affairs and Technical Standards Project Manager who has business unit level influence and is generally recognized as a subject matter expert within the C&H consumer goods business unit. In this function, the individual combines knowledge of scientific, regulatory and business issues to provide services that enable our clients to develop, manufacture and sell products that comply with applicable legislation and standards. Responsible for technical support and product testing in the US with the objective to support sales and operations in growing the business. Primary focus on supporting technical inquiries, reviewing and conducting formula assessment for safety and regulatory compliance, and laboratory testing. Responsible to support Business Development of Consumer Goods. The person is responsible for driving effective and professional relationships, integration and utilization within US, Canadian, and global CRS Sales, Client Services and Operations. Participates in the planning and implementation of technical programs, collaborates with management in establishing long range planning of the department's objectives and deliverables.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as technical manager to support to sales teams and account managers internally and/or during interactions with clients, including technical inquiries from the SGS Retail Solutions team
  • Support responses to tenders and/or projects from a technical perspective
  • Prepare or support the preparation of test plans, test protocols and / or SOPs according to regulatory and/or client requirements
  • Stay up to date on applicable and upcoming federal and state laws, hazardous materials regulations, and other applicable US / Canada laws and regulations applicable to cosmetics, personal care and household products
  • Conduct toxicological evaluations and write safety/risk assessments, ingredient reviews and product label reviews for cosmetics, OTC products, cleaning products and other household consumer products in accordance with applicable US / Canada laws and regulations
  • Compile toxicity and regulatory data to integrate as needed to generate robust safety assessments
  • Support training and growth of Regulatory Associate(s) in preparation of reports for desktop review services
  • Present and provide regulatory updates and technical information during sponsor interactions, company sponsored webinars, trade shows and other external channels

  • Develops technical SOPs
  • Proactive approach to implementing and customizing strategic commercial solutions
  • Conducts Toxicological Risk Assessments based on available data and scientific research
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
  • Language Skills - Strong written and spoken English skills, other languages - Required
  • Computer Skills - Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook) - Required
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and detail oriented
  • Self-managed and responsible to project and time management
  • Proficient and comfortable in client engagement activities including participating in meetings and conducting presentations
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical people
  • Ability to read and interpret regulations
  • Hands-on, open-minded and proactive team player

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in a life science or related field of study, preferably a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in toxicology; Required
  • Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology or closely related field Preferred
  • DABT or ERT certification Preferred
  • 3-5 years experience writing human health safety assessment for consumer products Required
  • In-depth knowledge of Food, Drug & Cosmetics Act (21 CFR 700), MoCRA, Federal Hazardous Substances Act (16 CFR 1500) and corresponding Canadian regulations for Cosmetics and Hazardous Products Required
