A growing nonprofit organization in the Baltimore City area is seeking a contract to hire senior grants accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial aspects of grants, including budget development, forecasting, and tracking expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with grant regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with program managers and grant writers to develop accurate budgets and ensure adherence to grant guidelines.
  • Process accounts payable and manage expense allocations for grant-funded programs.
  • Review and analyze grant expenditures to ensure accuracy and proper coding.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors on a timely basis.
  • Participate in the audit process and provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Monitor revenue and expenses for grant-funded programs and identify any discrepancies or variances.
  • Utilize Excel and other financial software to analyze data and create reports.
  • Stay updated on changes in grant regulations and communicate any updates to relevant staff members.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant accounting and management.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and government regulations related to grants.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other financial software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with grant audits and providing documentation and support.
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain accuracy while working under tight deadlines.
