The role will be responsible for the following:

The Technology Trainer will be responsible for equipping faculty and staff with the skills and knowledge to effectively utilize and maximize the technology tools adopted by the College. This role will support the College's mission by enhancing teaching and learning through technology, fostering innovation, and promoting an inclusive and supportive organizational culture.

Essential Functions

Holistic Student Support:

  • Develop and deliver training sessions that enable faculty and staff to use the College's currently-adopted technology tools to support student success.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and group workshops to address specific technology needs and challenges. Deliver these workshops across modalities: in-person, in synchronous online sessions, and through curated asynchronous video resources.
  • Create and maintain resources, such as guides and tutorials, to assist faculty and staff in using technology tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Teaching Excellence:

  • Design and implement professional development programs focused on integrating technology into teaching practices. Offer at least one session for faculty during each Convocation week.
  • Coordinate external training where supplemental expertise is needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop innovative instructional strategies using tools the College already owns.
  • Seek feedback from faculty regarding any gaps between the functions provided by the tools the College owns and the technological functionality needed to enhance faculty instruction.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make continuous improvements based on feedback and best practices.

Program Innovation:

  • Stay current with the latest developments across the array of College-owned technology products, and share insights with faculty and staff.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation by encouraging the adoption of new tools and techniques.

Fiscal Stewardship:

  • Ensure efficient use of technology resources by providing training that maximizes the value of the products the College owns.
  • Recommend the procurement of additional technology tools to fill gaps in functionality, with a focus on direct improvement of instruction.
  • Assist in the development of budget proposals for technology training programs and resources.

Organizational Culture & Inclusive Practices:

  • Promote an inclusive learning environment by ensuring that technology training is accessible to all faculty and staff.
  • Advocate for the use of technology tools to support faculty and staff initiatives.
  • Collaborate with departments across campus to align technology training with the College's strategic goals and values
  • Tap into Chatt State existing expertise to provide training for college personnel.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in training and development, preferably in an educational setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and other Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Additional Details

This is an in-person position based on Chattanooga State's main campus. This expectation supports in-person training opportunities, including impromptu visits from colleagues seeking assistance.

Projected Salary Range: $40,730 - $48,874
