The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 90-100% Staff Nurse to work within our Dermatology Clinic located in Bettendorf, IA. We use the latest techniques to care for a range of conditions affecting the skin. We also work closely with you to take precautions against skin cancer, infections, dry skin and the aging effects of sun exposure. Our services include treatment of cosmetic skin problems such as age spots and birthmarks and the removal of unwanted hair and tattoos. We offer chemical peels, Botox injections and dermal fillers. We also offer general dermatology services, and we offer quick scheduling for appointments. This position will mainly support Dermatology but could also support other service lines/clinics based on clinical needs/hours.

Our Staff Nurses develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor each family member's health care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

Duties to include:

  • Staff will support our Dermatology Clinic patients.
  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.

Percent of Time: 90-100% (36-40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours 7:30 AM - 5:30, no weekends, no holidays and no on-call time

Location: Bettendorf, IA (this position could support other clinic locations, as needed)

Education
  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Required Qualifications
  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical hours/need.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
  • 3 - 5 years of recent staff nurse level experience in ambulatory setting
  • 1 year minimum triage experience required (within the last 3 years).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Current experience in self-directed, independent roles (autonomous work ability)
  • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
