The Senior Process Scientist I perform professional chemist assignments requiring full use and application of chemical principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. This role is focused on scientific research, development, and testing of new products, processes, and raw materials including researching potential new products and processes by developing and testing theories on the physical and chemical properties of materials and ingredients under various conditions. This position exercises professional judgment in the evaluation and selection of applied methods enabling projects to meet established schedules or to resolve complex technical or operational problems. Works under only general direction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Applies technical principles required for process scale-up. Has full knowledge of other manufacturing disciplines.
•Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
•Perform experiments in a timely manner in conjunction with other chemists.
•Participates in production support including nights, weekends, and holidays.
•Suggest solutions to technical problems associated in other departments.
•Prepare technical reports.
•Lead chemistry portion of customer calls.
•Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
•Perform experiments in a timely manner in conjunction with other chemists.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Typically requires 10-13 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree or 7-10 years of related experience and a master's degree or 4-8 years of related experience and a PhD degree or equivalent experience.
• PhD (preferred), Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry.
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
• Knowledge of organic chemistry
• Knowledge of engineering basic principles
• Knowledge of analytical techniques for active pharmaceutical ingredients
• Good communication skills (Oral and written)
• Organized, detail oriented and safety conscious
• Curious and creative
