Position: Software Engineer III

Job Location: 805 Moberly Ln, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Assists in providing guidance to small groups of two to three engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline. Provides support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies); researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; identifying short- and long-term solutions; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of associate's domain. Manages small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; researching and identifying alternative solutions; determining needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; identifying areas of opportunity; interpreting information and identifying a solution; ensuring solution is sustainable across implementation and use; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; and ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs. Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation. Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.

Skills required: Must have experience with: Designing and developing single page web applications front-end using HTML 5, CSS3, JavaScript, Angular JS, jQuery; Developing Web application back-end API and services using C#, .Net, Python, Django, NodeJS, Express JS; Developing, designing, and managing databases using PostgreSQL, MongoDB and MySQL technologies with dataset of up to 9 million blog data records; Maintaining and monitoring databases using SQL Server management studio, pgAdmin, Robo Mongo, MS SQL Server 2012; Migrating from Django ORM queries to Elasticsearch DSL queries to improve page load performance from 360 seconds to 18 seconds; Utilizing Logstash and Elasticsearch to index MySQL table with up to 9 million records; Utilizing Kibana to monitor, analyze and troubleshoot through logs both in real-time and historical data tracking; Utilizing Git, Mercurial version control systems for version management and GitHub, GitHub Desktop, SourceTree, Tortoise Hg for change tracking; Utilizing Jenkins, Apache server and IIS Server to deploy and publish web application; Designing and developing cross platform mobile applications using PhoneGap, Cordova and Ionic framework that follows one repo multiple app principle; Developing front-end web application reusable D3 JS chart components following object-oriented programming paradigm leading to cleaner and more maintainable code; Developing front-end component libraries using Leaflet JS, Lodash to render both ArcGIS server maps/layers and GeoServer API maps/layers; Following and maintaining Agile methodologies throughout the life cycle of application development; Collaborating with product stakeholders to identify and collect business requirements and sketch out roadmaps to technical solutions; Collaborating and coordinating with fellow engineers to design architecture and technical solutions, develop features and troubleshoot defects; Utilizing Trello, Jira and Confluence for issue tracking and document guidelines; Developing data collection scripts in Python to collect data from YouTube using YouTube Data API V3, perform ETL operations and present findings as part of case studies by US Department of Defense during 2018 NATO TRJE Exercise; Migrating application deployment server from "Django simple server" to "Apache mod_wsgi server" to improve server scalability; Leading Intern engineers through the cycle of learning industry practices, culture, technologies, and hands on development; Troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, debugging, refactoring, fixing application service layer, business logic and quality assurance issues; Utilizing Bootstrap V3, Bootstrap V4, Material UI, Ionic framework, LESS to develop dynamic and responsive User interfaces for both web and mobile applications.
