Through the production of policy-relevant research, teaching and training of the next generation of security scholars and leaders, and advice to and engagement with policy makers, CISAC creates knowledge to build a safer world. POSITION SUMMARY: % Time Duty and Responsibility Statements

    40% Conducting policy-relevant research on international security, both individually and in collaboration with other scholars.30% Co-teaching the CISAC undergraduate honors seminar, a highly selective year-long program designed to help Stanford seniors from all disciplines produce honors theses in international security.15% Teaching a course in the Stanford Master's in International Policy program, or co-teaching one of CISAC's undergraduate survey courses.5% Serving as a mentor to postdoctoral fellows at the Center as well as Stanford undergraduate and graduate students with related research interests. 10% Working closely in coordination with the Center Directors and with other researchers and faculty members within the Center and across campus to promote excellence in international security at Stanford University.
CORE DUTIES:The 5 year fixed term Research Scholar, who is expected to be in residence and to take part in Center activities throughout the academic year, will have responsibility for:
    Conducting policy-relevant research on international security, both individually and in collaboration with other scholars.Co-teaching the CISAC undergraduate honors seminar, a highly selective year-long program designed to help Stanford seniors from all disciplines produce honors theses in international security.Teaching a course in the Stanford Master's in International Policy program, or co-teaching one of CISAC's undergraduate survey courses.Serving as a mentor to postdoctoral fellows at the Center as well as Stanford undergraduate and graduate students with related research interests.Working closely in coordination with the Center Directors and with other researchers and faculty members within the Center and across campus to promote excellence in international security at Stanford University.
QUALIFICATIONS / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:REQUIRED:
    Background in issues related to international security with a demonstrated capacity for analytical and policy-relevant research in one or more of the following areas of interest: nuclear security, digital security, biosecurity, and environmental security.A PhD in relevant social science, science, or engineering discipline.An excellent publication record and/or evidence of outstanding potential for research and teaching.Well-developed conceptual and analytic skills and a proven ability to design and develop a program of independent research, courses, and outreach. Experience teaching undergraduate courses is a plus.
The expected pay range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to geographic location, knowledge, skills and abilities, relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, performance; as well as other business and organization needs such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the minimum qualifications, departmental budget availability, and market and internal equity across the unit, department and reporting relationships.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
