Adhering to all Silgan Safety Policies & Standards, Silgan Plastics No Tolerance Policy and Product Defense-Security.

Reading and understanding all "Safety Rules" items as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Wearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). GMP required gear.

Contribute to our Product Safety culture, by following the GMP Guidelines and Good Documentation practices.

Being aware of all Emergency Exits and knowing procedures for Emergency Evacuation as well as location of Tornado Shelter and Evacuation Assembly Area.

Accessing and searching for SDS (Safety Data Sheets) online and how to utilize properly
-
Knowing not to operate any equipment or perform any work without the proper training and authorization to do complete the task safely. Always following proper LOTO lock out/tag out procedures.

Never Remove or Bypass machine guards and NEVER while the machine is in operation.

Being cautious and aware of lift trucks and moving equipment.
-
Reporting all injuries or incidents to your supervisor immediately.

Fully understanding and supportive of the Safety START card program and knowledgeable in how to complete a Start Card (S Safety, T Target, A All Personnel and, R Relies on, T Teamwork).

Understanding the good housekeeping guidelines in the Employee Handbook.

Attend daily 2-6-2 or production meeting according to job title during shift for job assignments, safety updates, and/or specific meetings or training as posted on bulletin boards.

Reading and understanding specific information pertaining to your job duties and classification (i.e., Silgan BOM) Specifications, Job Safety Analysis, Work Instructions, Plant Memos, etc.

Always asking for help before completing a task or job duty that is unsafe or you are unsure of the proper way to complete.

Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

Responsible for determining various bottle measurements using hand and machine devices.
-
Responsible for the continual flow of information - both from the previous shift and to the incoming shift.
-
Responsible for investigating, evaluating, and taking action to maintain quality within the established standards and guidelines. Placing suspect product on hold, using AQL inspections as required.

Responsible for communicating to the MFG Team Supervisor, MFG Manager, and Quality Manager
-
Problems incurred during production, in a timely manner.
-
Failures to maintain GMP practices or any other actions that may put the product's security or customer satisfaction at risk.

Responsible to train our standards, policies, and systems.
-
Audit production lines for applicable quality checks.
-
Create Certificate of Analysis (C of A) for customers that require, without error.
-
Data entry and manual filing for plant training data and other similar data entry requirements.
-
Temporary assignment to MFG dependent on business needs.
-
Project Leader for assigned sections of quality compliance, examples include, "SDS-Chemical Control" or "Glass and Brittle Inspections".

Sign daily activity log reports, line clearance start-up and shutdown sheets.

EDUCATION:
-
Required: Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Preferred: High School diploma or GED equivalent

Both high amounts of quality and quantity of work.

Knowledge of plant procedures and equipment use.

Preferred:

2- 3 years on the production floor at Silgan Plastics in an MFG position.

Demonstrated familiarity with the position as a cross - trained Quality technician "back up" or Manufacturing Supervisor "back-up"

Ability to assess job tasks, and prioritize those tasks when conditions change.

Demonstrated ability completing paperwork with both speed and accuracy.

Able to use calipers.

Ability to read part drawings and possess good math skills.

Ability to use personal computer, including Microsoft Windows.

Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.

Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions

Trained in analyzing SPC.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be dependable. Must have good attendance record.

Ability to pass written requirements in numeric, visual, verbal comp, space visualization, and work orientation.

Ability to work or stand for a 12-hour shift.
-
Must be willing to work overtime when needed.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs.
-
Work involves continuous bending, reaching, standing and walking.
-
Hearing protection, safety glasses, hairnets & gloves on production Floor.
