Job Description:
The Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) is seeking a motivated individual to join our team. This position will work closely with the OCC Programming Unit Case Manger to facilitate inmate programming. Candidates will be required to successfully complete Cognitive Behavioral Intervention (CBI) facilitator training and instruct CBI programs. Candidates will be required to train as the backup restrictive housing case manager and relief in library services.

Duties

* Assist Programming Unit Case Manager in facilitating volunteer programs.

* Facilitate the programs schedule to include regular sessions and special events.

* Implement new and organize meetings/sessions/events for existing programs.

* Track the number of inmate participation hours and volunteer hours for American Correctional Association (ACA) Outcome Measures.

* Assist in managing program, facilitator, and volunteer rosters based on eligibility and continued participation.

* Assist Programming Unit Case Manager in compiling monthly reports including information about attendance, records of completion, and special events.

* Manage volunteer program supplies and orders, ensuring safety and security of the institution.

* Attend necessary training to facilitate the volunteer programs.

* Respond to written correspondence from incarcerated population.

* Ensure approved volunteers adhere to NDCS policies and procedures.

* Build and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

* Attend volunteer coordinator monthly meeting and programs quarterly meeting.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field OR two years of experience working with persons referred through the legal system. Must be at least 18 years of age. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience coordinating and working with volunteer programs to include scheduling, managing waiting lists and having professional interactions with community partners. Experience in interpreting and enforcing laws, rules, regulations, and processes, reviewing, and evaluating administrative records and reports. Experience in public speaking. Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe software. Must have excellent organization and time management skills. Knowledge of evidence-based practices is preferred.

Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
