Position Summary:

As a part of the Workforce Development and Innovation Division (WDI), the Program Manager, Innovation Solutions, performs a wide array of complex duties to create a stronger, college-wide culture of innovation that supports the local region and beyond. In coordination with the Vice Chancellor of Workforce Development & Innovation and the Director of Innovation and the Small Business Development Center, the Program Manager provides leadership, management, and support across all Pima CC campuses and departments to implement a successful, sustainable innovation culture, as outlined in the Pima CC Strategic Plan.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and will include working evenings and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With the Director of Innovation and SBDC, launch and scale a new PCC innovation committee and new PCC innovation center to cultivate a College-wide culture of innovation, as a Pima CC Strategic Plan Goal
  • Manage an action-oriented, cross-College Innovation committee that will drive College-wide innovation projects, programs, and key initiatives
  • Create a new, place-based Pima CC innovation center to support college/community engagement and solutions on behalf of key regional issues, including affordable housing, sustainability, climate change, transportation, workforce development, and other economic development areas
  • Work collaboratively within Workforce Development and Innovation and across Pima CC to plan and execute the development of Pima CC-wide Innovation initiatives, including special programs, projects, and pilots
  • In collaboration with Organizational Effectiveness & Development (OED), create and lead internal Innovation training, convening, and related activities, across the College, including administrators, staff, faculty, and learners/ Coordinate with department heads and faculty that lead to the creation of effective, efficient Innovation training programs and successful outcomes
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to Pima CC's Innovation activities
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues on program/project data collection and timelines
  • Manage the funding, reporting, and other fiscal duties for funding from various sources, in partnership with Pima CC Sponsored Programs and the Pima Foundation
  • Act as a consultant/subject area expert for innovation principles, practices, and culture, both within Pima CC and in the local community
  • Manage internal and external Innovation-related communications that foster partnership and collaboration among stakeholders
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a field of study related to innovation management and
  • Three to five years of related experience with professional-level program management experience and
  • One to three years of supervisory experience and
  • Demonstrated experience in innovation in an organizational context
or
  • An equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in a field of study related to or supportive of innovation management
  • Five to eight years of related experience within fields that may include innovation management, management consulting, project/program management, product development, or others
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Be able to articulate what innovation means within a community college setting and provide examples
  • Demonstrated success with implementing an innovation training regimen within a unit, department, or organization
  • Demonstrated success with scaling innovation within a significant department or organization
  • Knowledge of business management and financial/fiscal practices
  • Ability to lead and manage complex, dynamic projects and programs
  • Knowledge of innovative principles, practices, tools, and techniques
  • Skill in written and oral communications
  • Strong team management and leadership skill
  • Skill in delivering in-person, online, and hybrid training among diverse audiences
  • Skill in researching, analyzing, interpreting and reporting data
  • Skill in management consulting and/or coaching techniques/practices
  • Skill in budget/resource management
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting programs and services
  • Public relations/external communication skills
  • Skill in program development and process improvement
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective, positive working relationships
  • Skill in using MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, databases, videoconferencing, email, social media, and Google workspace
  • Work independently and meet timelines
  • Interpersonal skills to work cooperatively and effectively with individuals and groups
