Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Weekend Shift Production Supervisor to oversee our manufacturing operations in our Waukesha plant from Friday through Sunday. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing the production process, ensuring that our 25 direct labor machine operators, shipping staff and general laborers meet quality and efficiency standards while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The Waukesha plant is a non-union a leading manufacturer specializing in high-quality roof edge metal solutions producing $100MM in made to order product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Management:
* Oversee and coordinate production activities on the weekend shift, ensuring that all production targets and quality standards are met.
* Monitor machine performance and production output, making adjustments as necessary to maintain efficiency and product quality.
* Implement and enforce production schedules to ensure timely completion of orders.
Team Supervision:
* Lead, train, and motivate a team of 25+ direct labor machine operators, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
* Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, issue corrective action/discipline and address any personnel issues.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Quality Assurance:
* Monitor and inspect finished products to ensure they meet or exceed company quality standards and customer specifications.
* Identify and address any quality issues or defects, implementing corrective actions as needed.
* Collaborate with quality engineer to continuously improve product quality.
Safety and Compliance:
* Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are strictly followed to maintain a safe work environment.
* Conduct regular safety meetings as part of daily GEMBA walk to promote awareness and compliance.
* Report and investigate any safety accidents or incidents, implementing preventive measures as required.
* Foster a safety first mindset and workplace culture.
Continuous Improvement:
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
* Collaborate with engineering and production/plant management teams to resolve technical issues and support ongoing operational improvements.
Reporting and Documentation:
* Maintain accurate production records, including documenting daily shift reports, production metrics, and any incidents or issues encountered.
* Provide detailed reports and updates to upper management regarding shift performance, production output, and any concerns or recommendations.
* Maintain accurate attendance logs and approve timecards for all weekend shift staff.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Strong people leadership and team management abilities.
* Proven track record of meeting production targets and maintaining high-quality standards.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Deep understanding of metal fabrication processes including cutting, forming, assembling, punching, and bending.
* Understanding of production planning and scheduling principles to effectively manage shift operations and meet production goals.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques to identify and reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance overall productivity.
* Proficiency in production management software (ERPs) and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Solid understanding of OSHA safety regulations and best practices for the industry and leading a safety first culture.
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment and strong adaptability.
Education and Experience:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production supervisory role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the metal fabrication or similar industry.
Working Conditions:
Location/Hours: This salaried, exempt position requires that you work 5am-5pm Friday - Sunday as your standard shift. You will be required to start up shift and close down shift Friday - Sunday as part of your shift duties. A weekly Production Management meeting occurs on Thursdays that you will be required to attend. Extended hours will be based on production schedules or deadlines. Role may require overtime including weekdays. May be on call for emergencies or critical issues that arise outside normal working hours.
Noise/Climate/Safety: Adherence to safety protocols are critical. Manufacturing can be noisy due to machinery and equipment. May need to use hearing protection or other items to mitigate exposures. Climate may include hot summers, facility may be climate controlled. There is a minimum PPE required for this position that includes Safety Toed Boots over the ankle, cut resistant gloves and arm sleeves, safety vests or shirts, and safety glasses.
