Job Description: Provide on-site Field Engineering and Technical Support to the United States Air Force at Charleston Air Force Base, SC as an integral part of a multi-discipline team in conjunction with the C-17 Globemaster III Sustainment Partnership (GSP) contract.
- Use broad knowledge of Boeing C-17 design and engineering principles.
- Assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
- Apply engineering principles and experience to research technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
- Develop and document interim and permanent engineering dispositions to ensure aircraft airworthiness and overall USAF C-17 OSS&E.
- Use innovative approaches and unique applications to solve complex nonconforming conditions.
- Identify documents, analyze reported problems and communicate deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommend and manage resolutions.
- Provide design phase subject matter expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.
- Participate in on-site disabled aircraft repair/recovery teams, safety or accident investigation boards, and aircraft maintenance recovery teams.
- Design interim and permanent aircraft structural repairs and conduct static strength analysis.
- Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Develop and implement technical training curriculum for internal and external customers.
- Develop and implement product/process improvements.
- Ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time in a wide variety of cultural/economic environments.

Education / Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
