Responsibilities

  • Support the 7 Loveton Instrument plant and manage a team of engineers and engineering technicians
  • Leads the Process Engineering team in utilizing the engineering/technical problem-solving process to obtain business results
  • Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with safety needs, product specifications, compliance requirements, and quality standards
  • Drives timely execution of change management, deviation waivers, and quality nonconformances within BD's QMS processes
  • Leads the Process Engineering team in utilizing the engineering/technical problem-solving process to obtain business results
  • Ensures technical blockers are resolved to meet weekly/monthly/annual production goals
  • Partners with the BD excellence Manager and front-line teams to identifying and implement continuous improvement activities that will result in cost savings, utilization and efficiency improvements and overall safety of the employees in the plant
  • Acts as a technical bridge between Sustaining Engineering, R&D, assigned Core Teams, and the plant floor
  • Is a Lean Manufacturing Champion driving BD Excellence and mentoring process engineers.
  • Ensures safety and ergonomic considerations are made relating to equipment, process and plant layout
  • Partners with the Plant Manager to achieve assigned budget, business financial goals, and KPIs
  • Understand and be able to guide/coach teams on a wide range of technical issue resolution and process improvement tools to identify and eliminate waste
  • Performs manufacturing capability studies for new equipment including DFMA and statistical process control
  • Establish and maintain production processes ensuring instrument production meets company, FDA, and customer specifications
  • Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training
  • Participate in MDSAP audits as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Acts and leads in accordance with the BD values


Qualifications
  • Ability to develop Engineers/Technicians and teams in technical problem solving and personal and business growth
  • Four (4) year technical degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Biomedical / Electrical / Engineering Technology or related field
  • Strong knowledge of the medical device market, its customers, and the business climate
  • Preferred:
    • Five-plus (5+) years of experience in medical device manufacturing or process engineering
    • Or, strong Knowledge of BD's products, market, and customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with and influence cross-functional team members
