In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership in the Hand Towel Recycled Fiber Asset Area and WWT facility.
  • Responsible for managing the process design, development, optimization and implementation of major processes and systems in the recycled fiber department.
  • Overall responsibilities include the delivery of mill asset performance objectives, delivered cost and quality of the recycled fiber provided to the downstream processes as well as input cost management.
  • Additionally, up to 25% of this role's time could be focused on continuous improvement projects in the wastewater treatment/steam plant.
  • The incumbent will be located at the Loudon Mill and will report to the Fiber and Utilities Operations Team Leader.

Key customers include Mill Leadership Team, Recycled Fiber and Hand Towel Machine Asset Teams, Operating Partners, Maintenance Partners, Mill Technical Team, Operations Specialists and Sector Leadership.

In one of our manufacturing roles, you'll focus on winning with consumers and the market, while putting safety, mutual respect, and human dignity at the center. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemical and/or Pulp and Paper from an accredited College or University and have 2+ years' experience in a variety of technical or operational assignments. Candidates with an Associate, Bachelor, or advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline and possessing applicable experience may also be considered.
  • Experience using manufacturing analysis tools, such as: SPC (statistical process control), design of experiments, process capability studies, Six Sigma, etc.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working across multiple manufacturing technologies, e.g. LDC, UTAD and fiber-based processing experience (RF, broke, Virgin) is preferred.
  • Experience working with external technical service providers.
  • Demonstrated continuing self-development (i.e., progress toward an advanced degree).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Technical Knowledge: Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and leadership in application of engineering principles and/or scientific analysis.
  • Work with the team to support and drive overall business, mill, and department goals.
  • Be actively involved in mill-wide cost transformation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead/facilitate problem solving on chronic process related issues, or large acute process related issues, identify complex technical issues to determine root cause.
  • Utilize data analysis to improve quality of the product and/or process.
  • Provide functional leadership and creativity in the initiation of design, development and optimization of manufacturing equipment and processes to meet unit objectives.
  • Develop knowledge and skills so as to be recognized for expertise and functional leadership in application of engineering principles, scientific analysis and project management while providing advice and counsel to others.
  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines. Provide leadership by example in corporate safety, quality, regulatory, product safety and sustainability. Caring for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.
  • Participate in the development of others within the area of the incumbent's expertise.
