The CAD Technician is an integral member of the project team responsible for redlining, drafting, and tracking AutoCAD drawings.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare drawings and sketches at the direction of Project Manager or other office staff.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and other technical documents to assist engineers in the preparation of engineering calculations.
  • Set up and maintain files in a timely and organized manner and performs records management duties, including filing, file retrieval, database entry, and library tasks.
    • Populate master equipment list (MEL) spreadsheets by reviewing available materials of construction and design data for fixed equipment (i.e.: pressure vessels and piping) as indicated in U-1A forms, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), fabrication, or general arrangement drawings as well as piping specifications
    • Populate piping line lists
    • Populate piping circuit identification lists
  • Responsible for demonstrating a commitment to Total Quality and the process of continuous improvement, identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the need of customers and be open and responsive to change.
  • Populate various spreadsheets for mechanical integrity projects to coincide with drawings.
  • Highlight process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs with required color coding and line patterns to assist with corrosion and material diagrams (CMDs) generation or updating.
  • Highlight fixed equipment and piping system corrosion loops (systems) at the PFD level.
  • Highlight fixed equipment and piping system inspection circuits at the P&ID level.
  • Assist with placement of condition monitoring locations (CMLs) on isometric drawings.
  • Provide critical feedback to project management when cost or scheduling issues are recognized.
What You Will Need:

Education and Experience
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of related experience in O&G industry
  • Experience working in refineries and chemical plants
  • Background with various IDMS platforms (Visions, PCMS, Meridium)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge and practical experience with AutoCAD software
  • Familiar with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel (ability to match fonts, indentions, create tables, and use basic functions)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam
  • Understanding of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System
  • General knowledge of components used in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and piping systems
  • General knowledge of processes in refineries and chemical plants
  • General knowledge of P&IDs and PFDs
  • General knowledge of typical equipment documents (U-1, as-built drawings, piping specifications)
