Matrix Providers has a civilian opportunity for a Physical Therapy Assistant Assistant Wounded, Ill and Injured (WII) to provide full-time care in the Physical/Occupational Therapy Clinic located at the Naval Hospital Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL 32214

  • Status: Full-time Employee
  • Location: Naval Hospital Jacksonville, 2080 Child Street, Jacksonville, FL 32214
  • Clinic Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:30am to 5:00pm & Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm

Qualification Requirements:

Degree/Education: Must possess an Associates degree from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Certification: Must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

Experience: Must possess a minimum of 1 full year of PTA experience within the preceding 2 years.

Licensure: Must possess an active U.S. state license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Must be able to provide two (2) letters of recommendation from practicing providers, physical Therapy supervisors, physicians or health administrators attesting to his/her professional skills, competencies, patient rapport, etc. Reference letters must be include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written with the preceding two years.

Job Duties:

Provide a full range of physical therapy assistant services, including the services given below, as directed
by the supervising Government Physical Therapist.
Act as a liaison with nursing, medical staff, and other therapists to facilitate problem solving and
coordination of services. Act as educational resource.
Provide orientation, clinical guidance and instruction to new physical therapy assistants and physical
therapy aides.
Perform clerical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages,
filling out forms, scheduling patients, and staffing the reception area. Maintain and care for department
equipment and supplies and storage. Maintain department records and files in accordance with facility
policies. Perform coding of patient encounters and workload.
Measure patient's range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects
of specific treatments or to assist physical therapist to compile data for patient evaluations.
Monitor treatments administered by physical therapy aides.
Under appropriate supervision, administer treatments that may include, but are not limited to, range of
motion, therapeutic exercise, bed mobility and transfer training, traction, and application of modalities.
Properly document the treatment session in accordance with professional standards and MTF/department
requirements, noting patients response to treatment.
Assist with maintenance and care of department equipment, supplies and storage.
