The Opportunity

Performance Testing Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, and executing performance tests. S/he also analyzes test results and recommends improvements. S/he will participate in and guide the design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support and maintenance of new and existing applications and systems from a performance test perspective.

• Participate in all aspects of performance testing, including installing, configuring, and setting up a load test lab environment, working with project teams to determine requirements, writing test plans, creating test scripts, coordinating and executing tests, analyzing test results, identifying bottlenecks, and producing meaningful reports for project teams.
• Works with project teams of users and analysts to develop performance test specifications, ensuring that the design integrates with current systems.
• Develops project technical work plan and enforces adherence.
• Collaborates with other Digital staff (Operations, Network Services, etc.) to provide inter-disciplinary technical solutions.
• Design and implement performance test strategies for various software products.
• Develop and maintain performance testing frameworks and scripts.
• Execute benchmark, load, stress, endurance, and other types of performance tests.
• Work with technical teams to monitor application performance during tests.
• Create detailed performance test reports to summarize test results.
• Analyze test results and collaborate with technical and development teams to identify bottlenecks and actionable improvements.
• Document performance testing processes and procedures.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in performance testing.
• Mentors other technical team members in self-driven performance test execution.
• Mentors others in Platform Performance Management in the design, implementation, use, and support of performance testing tools and methodologies, both individually and in team-based mechanisms such as solution reviews and team design sessions.
• Participates in the team's on-call rotation to triage and resolve incoming issues as necessary. On-call rotation requires 24x7 availability for one week and potentially similar availability during the backup on-call week.

Qualifications
Qualifications
• A bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant clinical I.T. industry experience is preferred.
• At least 7 years of performance monitoring/observability experience building and implementing enterprise-level large-scale observability solutions.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies
• Strong technical skills are required, including the proven ability to design, implement, and maintain complex performance testing platforms and frameworks.
• Extensive experience with Tricentis NeoLoad, including Dynatrace AIOps integration.
• Experience with loggen, Hping3, netcat, or similar test tools is a plus.
• Experience with designing, developing, and executing performance tests against complex, multi-tier, and integration application stacks.
• Experience developing test interfaces for REST/POX and SOAP Web Services.
• Expertise with scripting tools such as Python, JavaScript, VB, shell, and Perl.
• Strong understanding of web services, client-server applications, multi-tier application architecture, interoperability, and databases.
• A working knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, system performance, and networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with databases such as MS-SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL; exposure to IRIS/Cache database (Mumps) and associated tools such as DeepSee and Diver is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a virtual test lab environment with VMWare and Citrix technologies.
• Demonstrates an ability to prioritize tasks with an appreciation for critical paths and an ability to coordinate and complete multiple complex tasks to completion independently.
• Able to independently create complex test scenarios and test scripts and execute testing accordingly in an integrated environment while incorporating quality management concepts.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications and set realistic goals for the completion of said needs.
• Stay updated on emerging industry technologies and trends. Act as a technical leader for the entire group.
• Able to understand the political climate of the organization and act accordingly.
• Ability to work and be flexible within a complex work environment with competing priorities.
• Ability to assume a high level of responsibility.
• Ability to take a project from conception through to deployment and support

• The hybrid work model requires robust home network connectivity.
• Periodic non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, and weekends.
• This position may requires occasional local travel to MGB sites, vendors, and/or conferences.
• Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and masks.
• Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
