Summary:

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking a part time Senior Project Manager for its Monroeville (Pittsburgh), PA location, several miles east of Pittsburgh, PA. You will primarily perform your work at BPMI's Monroeville, PA office, with the ability to work a hybrid schedule, teleworking on an as-needed basis, depending on personal and business needs.

Responsible for managing efforts associated with the effective business and operations of the department, company and Program. This includes but is not limited to the effective contract administration of complex projects, effective management of critical Program supply chains, lead for department/company budget management, and projects with significant operational impact. Successful execution of this role includes ensuring execution of all tasks necessary to meet project objectives. The individual should possess the following attributes to complete the essential duties: strategic/innovative thinking, Programmatic/Company focused, self-starter, and process improvement focused.

  • Achieve procurement, business, and operational goals by driving value through oversight, benchmarking, evolving processes, and improving systems.
  • Works independently with limited supervision.

Essential Duties:

A Senior Procurement Project Manager will be responsible for complex projects focused on company, procurement, and/or department operations. These encompass assignments supporting operational management, contract management, budget management, and supplier management.
  • Identify lead, participate in, and support special department, Company, Program, and/or corporate initiatives. Team with stakeholders to develop and manage project schedules, risk management plans, and cost impacts to facilitate completion of assignment to support Customer, company, and/or department needs. Establish and validate priorities and recommend actions necessary to support the specific assignment; aid in determining priorities of assignment deliverables and identify resource needs in support of those priorities.
  • Identify challenges/problems and/or improvement opportunities, perform investigation and analysis, develop, and recommend solution alternatives and implement solutions to ensure the integrity and effectiveness relative to assignments. Take action to resolve issues, communicate proactively to all stakeholders to identify the problem and its impacts, and persuade internal and external management, suppliers, and Government personnel to accept various procurement, business, operational and/or contractual recommendations/solutions.
  • Design, implement, and lead change management and adoption of procurement, business, operational and/or contractual processes across department, accounting for all stakeholders. Participate and lead process improvement efforts reviewing current processes and initiating improvements to gain efficiencies.
  • Prepare and present overviews to management and stakeholders, as needed. Responsible for succinct summaries, both oral and written, for senior management. Lead effective communications with both internal and external stakeholders and utilize experience to identify cross departmental impacts of cognizant assignments. Act as a conduit between procurement, engineering, and management, as well as other stakeholders to ensure communication and concurrent assignments are aligned.
  • Responsible for extracting data from the business systems and developing/updating metrics for management reviews. Synergize knowledge gained from all areas and present a comprehensive issue, impact, and action to the correct stakeholder(s). Recommend strategies to streamline processes for effectiveness and efficiency, considering Customer needs, team dynamics, and the Program, Company, and Department mission.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Business Management/Administration or equivalent education from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience in business with at least three (3) years in Procurement is preferred.An advanced degree, Greenbelt, Level 1 and/or Level 2 Procurement Certification, or CPSM/CPCM certification, may be considered in lieu of some year(s) of experience.
  • Fourteen (14) or more years of completed education and/or relevant educational and years of experience requirements.
  • Requires a security clearance, however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
  • Requires US Citizenship due to security clearance requirements.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Previous BPMI, Program or Government experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications desired.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and writing skills preferred.
  • Understanding of purchasing, project management, supply chain and other general business skills preferred.
