Description:

Tulane University School of Medicine's Department of Surgery is seeking candidates for a clinical faculty position in Acute Care Surgery at the assistant or associate professor level.

The clinical practice associated with this position will be for elective general surgery, emergency general surgery, and surgical intensive care unit.  The Acute Care Surgery Service is based out of East Jefferson General Hospital in the metro New Orleans area.  East Jefferson General Hospital is the main teaching hospital for Tulane University SOM.  The candidate will help grow and expand an elective general surgery practice, with opportunity to do robotic or minimally invasive cases.  SICU duties will include post-operative cardiac surgery patients, with plans for eventual development of a Cardiothoracic-ICU.  An ICU directorship opportunity may be possible commensurate with the candidate's experience.  Additional responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate medical education. This is an excellent opportunity for an acute care surgeon interested in the education of residents and medical students in our busy academic program. Applicants should have special interest in basic science and/or clinical research.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have satisfactorily completed a training program in general surgery and surgical critical care accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and be board certified, or eligible if recently trained, and eligible for licensure in Louisiana. Fellowship training in surgical critical care is required.

Please submit an application using Interfolio via the "apply now" button on this page.  Provide a cover letter and an updated CV.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

For questions, please contact Sharven Taghavi, MD, Division Chief of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at staghavi@tulane.edu.
