Job Summary:
Under supervision of the Neurodiagnostic (ND) Tech Educator or ND Coordinator, assists in the development of and training in the educational department standards of care. Additionally, performs a wide variety of advanced neurodiagnostic studies to include Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), long-term and intraoperative monitoring, evoked potentials, nerve conduction velocities, autonomic testing, neuro interventional radiology (WADA) and positron emission tomography (PET) including diagnostic and investigative studies in the laboratory, at the bedside, and in critical care units, and in the operating room on all ages of patients served by the department. Other duties include but are not limited to charge capture, scheduling patients. May be required to float to other sites to ensure optimal department operations. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 3+ years of experience is preferred. Ability to perform Electroencephalography (EEG), in addition to 2 or more of the following Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing (EMG/NCV), Autonomics, Long Term Monitoring, Evoked Potentials and Magnetoencephalography
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) is required. In lieu of education a minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Neurodiagnostic Technician is preferred with the proven ability to perform Electroencephalography (EEG), in addition to 2 or more of the following; Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing (EMG/NCV), Autonomics, Long Term Monitoring, Evoked Potentials or Magnetoencephalography.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days. It is preferred to have 2 registries from ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist) in any of the following: Registered Electroencephalography (EEG) Technologist, Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing (EMG/NCV), Certified Autonomic Professional (CAP), Certified Long Term Monitoring Technologist (CLTM), Registered Evoked Potential Technologist.
