LJB's structural engineers and designers have earned a reputation as experts in cost-efficient structural design including tilt-up and steel detailing. We are the structural designer of choice for architects, general contractors, and owners throughout North America.
We are looking for candidates to fill the position of Structural Engineer for our Buildings Practice. The structural engineer will analyze, design, plan, and create structural components and structural systems to achieve design goals for LJB clients.
Annual Compensation: $76,000-110,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.
MID-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Independently completes structural calculations for structural systems including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs.
- Assists with the preparation of construction documents needed for vertical building structures.
- Coordinates with design staff to ensure accurate document and drawing production.
- Communicates with clients regarding project issues and attends meetings under the direction of a supervisor.
- Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems/management training.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
- Occasionally visits work site, monitoring project progress and reports findings.
- Ability to meet all safety requirements if/when visiting a work site.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Open to future growth of their position into a Project Manager role, if desired.
- Other duties as assigned.
MID-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:Education:
- Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering with structural emphasis required. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years' engineering experience possessing knowledge and experience in design of reinforced concrete and/or steel vertical structural engineering projects such as commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, tilt-up preferred.
- Experience preparing construction documents, drawings, reports, and supporting documentation, required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Cast-in-place concrete and/or Steel mid-rise experience a plus.
- Experience using RAM Structural, Enercalc and Revit preferred.
