Caterpillar Inc. seeks Manufacturing Project Engineer 2 at its facility located at 14009 Old Galena Road, Chillicothe, IL 61523. Utilize experience and expertise in manufacturing technology, operations, supply chain, and product design to provide improved manufacturability of parts and major components. Provide direction and guidance to manufacturing personnel to improve manufacturing productivity. Work with internal and external suppliers to develop projects, ensuring the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations to produce quality products. Work with suppliers to analyze current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of existing designs or modification of designs to improve processes and/or products. Ensure Engineering, Purchasing and shop personnel, at Caterpillar and suppliers, are involved in the approval process, ensuring sound decisions to improve manufacturing processes, quality and/or reduce costs. Liaison within various functional areas to promote smooth transition of new and revised corporate and plant systems and operations. Adhere to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc., in performing assigned duties. Coach tactical work to develop facility and supplier value stream maps, and to develop supplier plans for every part that enables response to pull triggers. Coach / lead teams to deploy pull replenishment at supplier facilities, including inventory sizing activities. Coach / lead the Supply Chain Planning Process with suppliers, providing leadership to project teams. Impact key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, Part Quality, ISO 9000 Certification, etc. Function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within major areas of planning, tooling, machine shop, assembly, etc. when specific technical assignments are needed. Work assignments may be specialized or broad in nature with coordination between staff to complete larger projects. Develop, analyze, and manage Manufacturing/ Assembly Projects. Coordinate, plan, monitor, and report activities associated with flow analysis, design, financial modeling and implementation of complex manufacturing group technology cells in an assigned area. Provide manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification. Coordinate corporate manufacturing and office space utilization and assist in preparation of business proposals for rearrangements or additions or completely new facilities that are being proposed to ensure proper utilization of space. REQS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Supply Chain Performance Engineer, or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Virtual manufacturing engineering - Teamcenter VisMock up, Creo, PVA tool analysis; (2) Fabrication and Welding; (3) CMM inspection and interpretation of reports for part validation; (4) APQP - First sample approval process, PPAP, PFMEA, Control plans; and (5) Supplier resourcing, new source introduction, Source council approval process. Telecommuting: 2 days/week. Travel: 25% Domestic.
