American Battery Solutions has a full-time opening for a Manager, Advanced Manufacturing Engineer in Springboro, Ohio.

Job Summary

The Manager, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering is an individual contributor and leader of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team responsible for driving the design, procurement, and implementation of new equipment and manufacturing processes. This role works closely with operations, engineering, logistics and launch teams to ensure new programs launch successfully, meet customer requirements, and achieve production and cost targets. The manager also leads the AME group to troubleshoot issues, provide engineering support, and facilitate a smooth transition from concept to production.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cross-functional engineering team responsible for manufacturing evaluation of new product concepts, creation of manufacturing plans, and estimations of production costs.
  • Develop robust prototype processes for new product launches, tied together with the production process for a seamless start of regular production.
  • Responsible for leading multi-million-dollar projects and writing Statements of Requirements (SOR) to submit to equipment integrators.
  • Determine Capex and VA for new projects, project and scenario planning, and acquisition projects.
  • Approve machinery and equipment runoff and process sign-off according to MAP standards (i.e., capability, OEE, ergonomics).
  • Develop, maintain, and improve facility processes and related KPI metrics and PDCA issue resolution.
  • Manage improvements to the manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout with the cross-functional team.
  • Actively participate in Design for Manufacturing and Assemble (DFMA) and test strategy (in-process and end of line).
  • Develop and maintain all production documentation required including DFA's, PFD's, PFMEA's, WI's, etc.
  • Responsible for equipment and tooling readiness/documentation and all quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with procurement to source and manage prototype materials and supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
  • Manage engineering expenditures, labor costs, and departmental budgets.
  • Support development/quality engineering, suppliers, operators, maintenance, and customers for all prototype and low-volume production launches.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and collaboration to resolve production issues to ensure smooth program execution and communicate AME project status and progress to stakeholders (management, engineering, product teams).
  • Maintain facility capital.
  • Support all TS 16949 and ISO 24004 standards and activities.
  • Champion a culture of safety and quality in advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering, or related field of study; will accept equivalent foreign degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in the position above, as a manufacturing engineer, or in a related manufacturing engineering role.
  • Minimum of five (5) years leading projects with cross functional teams.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience with Prototype builds, Design validation through Production validation.
  • Must have three (3) years experience with DVPR and APQP Documentation (DFEMA/PFEMA), design for manufacturability, TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards, and Allen Bradley, Siemens, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MES.
  • Experience in multi-content assembly processes, non-siloed, full understanding of any product manufacturing stream from start to finish.
  • Adept in various troubleshooting methods.
  • Adept in data processing and statistical analysis.
  • Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, as well as effectively communicating with suppliers.
  • Educated on common automotive & industry standards.
  • Knowledge of the product design process, reading equipment, and product drawings

  • Must be able to maintain attention for long periods of time.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines and inspect parts produced.
