Laboratory Accessioner 1

The Laboratory Accessioner, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. The Laboratory Accessioner helps prepare samples and supports lab operations as requested.
Responsibilities and Duties: (include, but not limited to):
- The Accessioner will be accountable for understanding and following the laboratory's standard operating protocols, quality control processes, and safety rules.
- Receiving and accessioning specimens into the LIMS system
- Unpacks specimens and routes specimens by type to various staging areas.
- Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, etc.
- Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and documents problem specimens.
- Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging specimens, arranging reports for delivery, and keeping work surfaces clean and orderly.
- Participate in all applicable safety training sessions and know the location and contents of the safety manual and use of all applicable safety equipment.
- Identify and accurately label specimens and distribute them to the appropriate testing area
- Perform clerical and administrative duties as needed
- Organize and maintain lab specimen storage
- Organize and monitor lab supplies for appropriate inventory levels as directed by laboratory leadership
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Experience/ Education and Minimum Requirements and Preferred Abilities.
- Applicants should be detail-oriented, flexible, and quick to learn, as well as be proficient in data entry and organizational abilities. Written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role:
- HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience in data entry
- Medical background or experience with laboratory testing terminology or a strong aptitude to learn terminology.
- Able to work productively, effectively, and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks systems simultaneously
- Effective verbal and written communication, especially listening skills
- Detailed orientated about data entry and excellent typing skills.
- Strong computer skills and ability to work within Windows environment.
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Able to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Schedule: Monday -Friday 1:30 am -10:00am.
