Responsibilities
Location: Richmond, VA 23233 (This is a 100% onsite position)

Position Type: Hourly
Compensation: $18.00/hr.
Title: Kitchen Manager

Objective: Our Kitchen Managers play a crucial role in the back-of-house operations, acting as hourly supervisors who uphold kitchen initiatives, standards, and sanitary protocols.

JOB PURPOSE
The Kitchen Manager (BOH) is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations. This role requires in-depth knowledge of culinary positions, recipe standards, and hospitality for guests. During their shifts, Kitchen Managers will be responsible for opening and closing the venue according to standard procedures, ensuring recipe adherence through line checks and visual inspections during service, and supporting management, staff, and guest requests as needed.

Additionally, Kitchen Managers are expected to foster a positive and supportive environment in the kitchen. This atmosphere is cultivated through positivity, shared knowledge, effective communication, and leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
While this role does not have direct reports but oversees reports, the Kitchen Manager will assist in supervising the culinary team in the absence of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations and deliver an exceptional culinary experience for guests, ensuring it stands out as unique and satisfying.
  • Adhere to and enforce culinary standards and training guidelines.
  • Recognize and appreciate the dedication, hard work, and time of the team.
  • Address and escalate issues and complaints related to staff, guests, and kitchen operations.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the preparation, cooking, and serving of high-quality culinary items.
  • Ensure all dishes meet or exceed our stringent quality standards.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with vendors, internal stakeholders, staff, and senior management.
  • Promote a culture of appreciation and respect among all team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager and the Executive Chef.
  • Take on special projects to support company leadership in major initiatives, as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Work extended hours as required and/or during busy periods based on business needs.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Support the Executive Chef in the general operation of the kitchen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Establish strong relationships with staff in other areas of the Drive Shack operations, including managers and front-of-house departments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Supervising all food preparation and ensuring strict adherence to food hygiene regulations.
  • Recognize, maintain, and improve safety and sanitation in the kitchen.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Demonstrated understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Prior experience in a leading position with an excellent record of kitchen and staff management.
  • Accuracy and speed in handling in-the-moment conditions and providing solutions with hospitality and guest experience as a priority.
  • Outstanding communication skills, and experience working with the staff at all levels.
  • Familiarity with culinary trends and industry best practices.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, inventory management software, Point of Sale systems).
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to stand for hours at a time, including maneuvering up and downstairs.
  • Ability to travel, unassisted as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at-a-time without assistance.
