Job Overview:Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our team at our large distribution center in Portland, Oregon. The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting our employees and management by handling various HR functions, including employee relations, FMLA administration, recruiting, compensation compliance, and conducting investigations. This position requires a strong understanding of HR practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:Employee Relations:- Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and practices.
- Assist in resolving workplace conflicts and disputes, ensuring a positive work environment.
- Facilitate employee engagement initiatives and support retention strategies.
FMLA and Leave Administration:- Manage the administration of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leave programs (e.g., ADA, state-specific leave).
- Work with employees to process leave requests, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of leave requests, approvals, and return-to-work plans.
Investigations:- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, including issues related to harassment, discrimination, and policy violations.
- Document findings, prepare reports, and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Collaborate with management and legal counsel as necessary to ensure fair and consistent outcomes.
HR Compliance:- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain and update employee files and HR systems with accurate and confidential information.
HR Reporting and Analytics:
- Prepare and analyze HR reports related to employee relations, leave management, and other HR metrics.
- Use data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvements in HR processes.
Other Duties as Assigned:- Support special HR projects and initiatives as needed.
- Collaborate with other HR team members to ensure the overall effectiveness of the HR function.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably within a large distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of HR laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and other federal/state employment laws.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred but not required.
Work Environment:- This position is based in a large distribution center with a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Regular interaction with employees across all levels of the organization.
