Wellstar is seeking a Program Director for our Orthopedic Surgery GME program at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, based in Marietta, GA.

- Candidates must be board certified and fellowship trained in an Orthopedic surgery sub-specialty

- Must have at least 3-5 years of previous GME experience in a prior appointment

- Ideally will have 5+ years experience in clinical, administrative and educational experience within orthopedics

- Must be willing to combine teaching, administrative and clinical responsibilities

- Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, excellent administrative and team building skills and a vision to shape a program, recruit and retain residents and core faculty

Wellstar Kennestone Hospital is a level 2 trauma center with just under 700 beds located in Marietta, GA, just outside the city of Atlanta and about 45 minutes northwest of the Atlanta airport. Marietta, Ga is a sought-after area in metro-Atlanta with endless entertainment including the Battery and Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, the historic Marietta Square, many restaurants, shopping, great schools, both public and private, outdoor activities including Kennesaw National Battlefield Park and more.

The Wellstar Orthopedic GME program accepts 4 residents per year and is one of the oldest and most respected in the country. The program was previously at Atlanta Medical Center and was moved to Kennestone. Wellstar Health System strives to offer an exceptional, personalized environment that prepares the next generation of physicians to deliver the highest quality of healthcare to our community. Wellstar is keenly focused on and committed to ensuring continuity of training for all Wellstar residents, engaging in regular and ongoing bi-directional communication with learners about programmatic improvements and changes, and providing clinical learning environments that support the wellbeing, personal and professional development of all residents, faculty, and staff. To enhance the quality and sustainability of clinical services and the clinical learning environment, Wellstar is working with the ACGME to review opportunities to relocate surgery services and training to the system's flagship teaching hospital which will provide residents with enhanced educational experiences and contemporary facilities with state-of-the-art surgical suites and equipment.

Today, under the direction of 8 highly respected division chiefs and 40 faculty members, all 8 subspecialty areas of orthopedics are taught. The focus is on excellence in teaching, research and patient care, as we innovate to meet the demands of a dynamic and exciting medical specialty.The program features a wide variety of rotations covering all required disciplines within Orthopedics. The rotations are led by prominent, fellowship-trained faculty, and most feature one-on-one learning. The breadth of exposure requires residents to be dispersed across the Atlanta Metro Area. Didactics are attended and delivered by a cadre of highly regarded experts in all 8 subspecialties of orthopedics. Opportunities include Chief Lectures, Trauma Rounds, Case Reports, Journal Club, M&M, Chairman's Patient Safety Committee, Tumor Conference and Resident Lectures.

The Musculoskeletal service line at Wellstar is comprised of over 30 providers and includes various sub-specialties including all Orthopedic sub-specialties such as hand surgery, sports medicine, total joint, foot and ankle and more as well as Podiatry, Pediatric Ortho, Orthotrauma, non-operative sports medicine, and general hand surgeons.
