Stanford University seeks candidates for a new faculty position in Taiwan Studies. The successful candidate will have expertise in policy studies, social sciences, international relations, or global affairs relating to Taiwan, and will be expected to contribute to the newly established Taiwan Program of the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC). This is an open-rank search.

The new faculty member will be appointed as a Senior Fellow or Center Fellow in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) affiliated with APARC. Senior Fellows at Stanford University are full members of the Professoriate and Academic Council, with a rank equivalent to tenured associate or full professor. Center Fellows at Stanford University are also members of the Professoriate and the Academic Council, with a rank equivalent to tenure-track assistant professor. Center Fellows are appointed for a fixed term of years with the possibility of promotion to Senior Fellow.

Senior applicants should possess an exceptional record of research and publication, outstanding experience in developing, advising, or implementing policy, and a demonstrated commitment to mentoring and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Junior applicants must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) at the time of the appointment and will be expected to teach and advise students at a graduate level.

Application packages should be submitted online and include the following documents: 1) a curriculum vitae with complete bibliography; 2) a research statement (up to 2 pages); 3) a statement of teaching interests (1 page); 4) up to three examples of scholarly publications; and 5) a cover letter. Junior candidates should also provide the names of three references, who may be contacted for this review (senior candidates may mark these fields as "N/A").

The expected base pay range for this position is:

Center Fellow: $150,000 - $190,000

Senior Fellow: $191,000 - $250,000

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
