Job Summary

Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for the full-time position of Facilities Support Associate 4. This position reports to the Facilities Coordinator and will work at both our Murfreesboro and Smyrna campuses. The shift time for the position will be 12:30 to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (full time, 37.5 hours/week). The Facilities Support Associate 4 is responsible for the maintenance, repair and cleaning of the campus buildings (including the Career Center).

Job Duties

The Facilities Support Associate 4 is responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

Cleaning

* Empty trash from both Murfreesboro and Smyrna campus buildings, including the Career Center.

* Clean windows, restrooms and drinking fountains.

* Resupply restroom and shop areas as needed.

* Share responsibility for the care and upkeep (sweeping, mopping, buffing, vacuuming) of the floors in all areas of both campuses and the Career Center.

Maintenance

* Perform building maintenance tasks such as minor wall repair, painting, stripping/waxing floors, changing HVAC filters, equipment maintenance, etc.

* Under direction of Facilities Coordinator, assist with regular inspections of elevators, fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash/showers, and other classroom equipment on both campuses.

* Assist with emergency drills and emergency/security system checks.

* Replace light bulbs when needed.

* Observe safety practices in handling, storing, and using all equipment/chemicals/materials.

Groundskeeping

* Share responsibility for maintaining campus grounds, including lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, turf, and irrigation.

* Operate and maintain trucks and power tools.

* Clean outside walkways and doormats. Empty trash cans outside the buildings, and remove trash from lawns and parking lots.

* Remove snow and ice from walkways when necessary.

Meeting Rooms/Campus

* Assist with room preparation for scheduled events (moving furniture, etc.).

* Unload deliveries as needed.

* Help maintain ample inventory of cleaning supplies.

* Perform minor repairs under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator.

* Make a security check of all doors before leaving.

* Other duties as assigned by Facilities Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

* The Facilities Support Associate 4 should possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
* At least three years prior experience in custodial and/or maintenance work.
* Possess ability to learn new skills which complement and enhance his/her performance.
* Valid TN Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

* Ability to carry out regular maintenance and minor repairs of commercial plumbing systems; knowledge of current safety regulations and requirements plumbing systems.
* Tow-motor certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Ability to follow PM system log and keep records of work completed.
* Self-starter with good time management skills.
* Knowledge of custodial techniques and appropriate equipment/supplies for each task.
* Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work professionally with other staff, Nissan partners, students and guests of the college.
* General computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands.
  • Prolonged periods working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with appropriate equipment.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities.
  • Must be able to utilize all parts of the company equipment.

Salary Range:

This is a full time, non-exempt position. Salary range is $32,000 - $41,500, commensurate with education and experience according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
