PositionSummary
As the "SafetyLeader" for the Texas Water Company, this position is responsible for building oursafety program and working with Senior Leadership to build a world-class safetyculture. The Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor evaluates, develops,and implements programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and localregulations pertaining to employee safety, workers compensation, vehiclesafety, as well as occupational health programs.
SpecificResponsibilities
Assist in implementing changes to environmental and occupational health and safety programs as needed to comply with changes in federal, state and local regulations.
Lead the Texas Water Company Safety Training Program, including development of a course catalog and annual requirements per department; assignment of required training to all employees; conduct training, utilize on-line or third-party resources to meet requirements. Ensure the training program meets OSHA requirements and health and safety laws.
Partner with Operations Leaders to ensure a safety-first approach is taken in all work activities.
Audit departmental operations for compliance with established environmental, health, safety, and security practices
Evaluate current programs and recommend compliance strategies to management.
Conduct safety and security inspections of the Company's facilities.
Effectively manage department budget, and provide forecast needs for the Safety Program.
Assist with the Company's hazardous material and right-to-know programs including the maintenance of Safety Data Sheets
RequiredKnowledge Skills & Abilities
Exceptional interpersonal skills focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills with a focus on front line operational teams.
Ability to learn quickly, understand and retain information, and apply new technologies
Capability to conduct business-friendly group presentations in-person, or virtually through computer application such as Zoom
Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
RequiredEducation and Experience
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent in chemistry, biology, environmental studies, health and safety or a closely related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and developing EHS&S programs.
Knowledge of federal and Texas occupational safety and environmental laws applicable to utility operations, with water utility operations preferred.
Relevant work experience may be substituted for a college degree.
A valid Texas Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
