Job Description:

Caterpillar's Resource Industries Operations & Products (RIOP) Engineering Manager provides managerial and technical direction to a staff of hourly, salaried, and management personnel including technical specialists and supervisors engaged in product or design, development or research activities related to one or more technology, component, product, or process which accomplish product maintenance and new product introduction objectives.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the product designs for the L4 Electrical System Integration across Large Wheel Loaders, Compactors, Off Highway Trucks, and Wheel-Tractor Scrapers machines in Resource Industries. You will be accountable for an annual budget up to $4-5 million with an engineering staff of around 10 employees.

• Developing partnerships within Caterpillar and with suppliers and customers.
• Integrating products and services to meet customers' needs.
• Contribute to division strategy creation.
• Faces ongoing change - increased competitive pressures, increasing product complexity and ever-increasing customer demands.
• Draw upon foundational product development skills such as conceptual design, development of product and/or process, data analysis & extraction, failure resolution & prevention, and requirements management.
• Draw upon knowledge of more than one engineering function, technology, component, system, product, or process is required.
• Work with different internal business partners, depending on the specific assignment; some of those are manufacturing teams, product teams, and NPI teams.

Responsibilities
• Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for engineering teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders.
• Providing specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.
• Managing high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives and projects; ensuring achievement of engineering plan and product quality.
• Maintaining product release plans and material plans; driving programs to completion on time and within budget.
• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

Degree Requirement:
• Engineering Degree required
