SUMMARY

The position is part of the product engineering team developing the AC compressors. Current compressor product teams are developing and producing a product portfolio consisting of mechanical drive and electric drive compressors.

The eCompressor product engineering group is responsible for all MAHLE global eCompressor designs. A focus of this responsibility for the eCompressor is design and development of the motor and electric drive for new compressors in the pre-development engineering phase. In this phase, this group is designing and developing custom electronic hardware and software for concept validation and potential implementation into future eCompressor products. In addition, this group supports the general development and testing of all compressor related products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work within the MAHLE Compressor Product Development team to advance product development and customer launch activities.
  • Designing and developing electric drive AC compressor electrical components including all aspects of motor drive electronics HW architecture and design.
  • Assist with preparation, build, and testing of compressor product samples and coordination of test programs.
The primary tasks of the position include:
  • Develop schematics for electronic controllers and wire harnesses.
  • Maintain Schematic Capture Part Libraries.
  • PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Design.
  • Co-ordination of PCB builds with outside supplier.
  • Fabricate electronic control boxes and wire harnesses.
  • Troubleshoot electronic and electrical issues.
  • Help maintain parts crib and electronics lab.
  • Support the analysis of purchased electrical components used on our products.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering disciple is required; Masters degree is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in development of electrical components and/or power electronics is required; 5 years of experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of electrical / electronic design tools for schematic capture and multi-layered PCB design is required
  • Altium Designer experience is preferred
  • Experience in Packaging electronic / electrical systems
  • Fabrication skills (soldering, mounting components, etc.) is preferred
  • Experience working with High-Voltage DC applications is preferred
  • Knowledge of and/or experience working in the Automotive industry is desired
  • Experience applying electrical components / systems to motor drives is desired
Salary: 80,000-120,000
