Applicants must have an M.D. degree. Applicants may also have a D.O. degree. Candidates with additional credentials such as a Masters or PhD are welcome.

Teaching responsibilities may include overseeing sports medicine education for students, residents, and fellows in collaboration with existing residency and medical school educators. Promoting scholarly activity related to all areas of primary care sports medicine is an expectation.

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH), in collaboration with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, seeks an energetic and visionary leader to serve as the Chief of Penn's Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine. In this newly formatted role, the Chief will capitalize on Penn Medicine's existing and growing footprint of sports medicine work and help catalyze growth and excellence in the practice of sports medicine.

The Chief of the Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health will work closely with the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to develop and execute a comprehensive plan to promote strategic growth of all aspects of Sports Medicine at Penn Medicine and the Perelman School of Medicine. Appropriate candidates will also be considered for a dual primary appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, with dual accountability and reporting to the Chairs of both departments. This individual will work collaboratively with multiple departments and divisions to ensure strategic growth in Penn's relationship with sports teams at every level, including high schools, colleges, and at the professional level. Specific responsibilities will include convening and supporting members of the Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine, conducting annual reviews with faculty members, and supporting efforts toward career growth and promotion, as well as serving in an advisory role to key Department Chairs.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
