Summary of Role:

Reporting to the Vice President of the Home and Industrial IoT End Market at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, the Director Edge AI and compute will have subject matter expertise in

Compute and memory architecture tradeoffs for low power, connected and AI-enabled embedded systems Microcontroller and Microprocessor architectures, compute domains, internal memory blocks and peripherals Novel architectures including accelerators / NPU / GPUs and key performance tradeoffs Register bitcell design and optimization and high density on chip memory compilers incl. specialty memory Security and data privacy standards for embedded systems Edge AI ecosystem including software tools to enable AI model deployments Smartcard microcontrollers and associated security features

The Edge AI and IoT compute Business Line targets a broad set of applications ranging from video surveillance, audio processing, human interfaces, motor control, building automation, etc... Customers are focused on maximizing the compute performance they can extract from their implementations thanks to adoption of enhanced features such as advanced body-biasing, fast memory accesses and optimized design techniques, all within a limited power budget.

The development of AI at the Edge triggers the need for increased performance in new architectures and requires deep domain and thought leadership to help GF develop winning platforms for this market in 28nm, 22nm and 12nm processes.

This position provides thought leadership for GF and complex multiyear business negotiations with customers.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Understand market dynamics and requirements for microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs and multimedia processors in a broad spectrum of end-markets.
  • Develop customer engagements in partnership with the GLOBALFOUNDRIES Sales organization to support client's existing products, product roadmaps and corresponding technology needs.
  • Identify the GLOBALFOUNDRIES solution including technology platform, differentiating features and design IPs that best serves a customer's needs and drive adoption.
  • Define the market requirements for new technology features and design IPs to be developed in accordance with market needs.
  • Drive the business case including scope, schedule, resources, demand and pricing model to deliver a technology solution at returns consistent with GLOBALFOUNDRIES growth and financial objectives.
  • Drive ownership and accountability in responsible organizations such as Sales, Design Enablement, Manufacturing Fab and Supply Chain to deliver to market needs.
  • Create and deploy compelling presentation collaterals to articulate the value of GLOBALFOUNDRIES' solutions to the customer and end-users to drive adoption.
  • Drive design win targets and create detailed plans to achieve them.
  • Create a sense of urgency and drive clarity across multi-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Identify issues and address them head-on using data to move complex multi-site programs forward.
  • Develop strategic relationships with customers and eco-system partners to achieve success across a 5+ year horizon.
Serve as a champion of GLOBALFOUNDRIES technology solutions with strong external presence at technology conferences, trade shows, webinars etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 7+ Years of experience in either semiconductor product company or end-product company.
  • Deep understanding of microcontrollers and microprocessors roadmaps and domain specific compute architectures incl. accelerators
  • Broad technical and business skills to be successful in the role.
  • Travel Requirements: 25% of travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 10+ Years of experience in semiconductor product company
  • Expertise in microcontrollers and microprocessors roadmaps and domain specific compute architectures incl. accelerators
  • Digital design knowledge in 28nm, 22nm or 12nm geometries.
  • Familiarity with a complete semiconductor design flow
  • Experience in hardware and software security features and standards
  • Experience in Edge AI implementations with the ability to convince new customers on the best path forward for their new implementations.
  • Language: Fluency in a second language to support high growth markets.

Expected Salary Range
$163,000.00 - $296,400.00
