Job Description

Position Summary:

The Design Team Leader will oversee the operations of Design colleagues at the Logan, UT site. As the Team Leader, you will lead and coordinate the design activities, ensuring high-quality and efficient workflows. You will mentor, train and provide technical expertise to colleagues and champion professional growth and development of team members. You will ensure compliance with design standards, processes and maintain processes as practices evolve. The successful candidate will have a strong background in design and engineering, excellent leadership skills, and ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor the work for a team of Drafters and Design Engineers in their day-to-day activities.
  • Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and apply metrics to triage and prioritize department resources and workflow.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and find opportunities for training and development.
  • Proactively drive process improvements to the Product Engineering design processes.
  • Develop a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting effective communication and knowledge exchange.
Day to Day Design Work:
  • Drive and perform actions to complete Custom Product Proposals and Approval Packets.
  • Support the global design team.
  • Collaborate to ensure coordination of design activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team members and explore unused functionality within our design software solutions to address sophisticated challenges.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in engineering technologies to enhance team capabilities and expand our product platform.
Project Coordination:
  • Communicate project updates, challenges, and achievements to project managers, senior leadership, and other collaborators to optimise prioritisation and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with other teams and departments to ensure smooth workflows and timely delivery of drafting projects.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective measures to complete projects.
Quality Assurance:
  • Establish and enforce drafting and checking standards, processes, and standard practices within the team.
  • Completes and assists with TrackWise investigations and supervises CAPA tasks as assigned by Quality.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Required Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferred Education or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field or 1+ years of proven experience in engineering.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to empower and inspire team members.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous projects simultaneously while ensuring quality of work.
  • Continuous improvement mentality, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements.
