Compensation: $20-22/hr dep Ed/Exp/Expanded Function
The Dental Assistant provides quality care and services to patients by assisting dentists and other staff in a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. Assists in the efficiency and productivity of patient flow through timely, accurate and professional preparation of patients and patient information, including taking x-rays, patient charting, sterilization duties, etc. Supports dentist and dental hygienist in community outreach, education, and portable delivery of dental treatment. Full-time position.
This is a full-time, benefit eligible position working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10-hour shifts.
Responsibilities Include:
* Prepare and maintain dental instruments, materials, and equipment
* Review and update patient health histories and related administrative documentation
* Assist dentist chair-side by organizing and preparing instruments for dentist's use and assisting as needed during procedures while helping patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment
* Deliver care as delegated by the supervising dentist such as polishing of teeth, taking dental impressions and pouring models, placement of topical anesthetic, and placement of pit and fissure sealants
* Coordinate with written and verbal communication with dental laboratories for prosthetic appliances
* Demonstrate knowledge of dentistry procedures, taking clear and concise radiographs, clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray setup, and materials
* Interact positively with a diverse patient population and provide services in a manner that is appropriate for the patient's age
* Coordinate with front desk as needed for continuity of patient care
* Participate in staff and educational meetings
* Assist in monitoring the safety, cleanliness, and professionalisms of the clinical area at all times
WORKING CONDITIONS & EXPOSURE RISK
* Regular exposure to blood and/or body fluids
* Regular exposure to radiation sources
* Regular exposure to fumes and/or gases
* Regular exposure to biohazard waste materials
* Regular exposure to electrical hazards
High School/GED required
* At least two (2) years dental assisting experience preferred
* Computer literate in electronic mail, word processing, and office management system software required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
BLS certification or ability to obtain required
