The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college on the Atlanta campus. The college enrolls over 14,000 undergraduates and 1,800 graduate students, and is responsible for delivering educational offerings to over 70 percent of the institution's student population. Students are taught by 560 full-time faculty and supported by 300 staff members. Students with majors in one of its 22 academic departments and institutes work with expert scholars in humanities, social sciences and natural sciences to develop strong research communication, and critical thinking skills.

The college manages a research portfolio of over $40 million comprised of funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, the Department of Education, and other federal, state, and private agency sources.

The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the college, responsible to the provost for oversight and quality of all the college's academic and research programs. The dean will strategically position the college for the future and will have the creativity, talent, and energy to build on its legacy of academic excellence, and commitment to interdisciplinary research and teaching.
