Description

LJB Inc. is a national engineering firm that provides civil and structural engineering, as well as geospatial, safety and environmental services. Our diverse expertise, client base, and geographies have enabled LJB to serve clients in all 50 U.S. states and several countries.

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Observer / Coordinator within our Water/Civil practice to support our client as a special project employee. The ideal candidate will possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. Specific responsibilities, requirements, and competencies are outlined below.

CONSTRUCTION OBSERVER / COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develop project plans, including timelines, for inspection projects.
• Schedule field personnel and coordinate project activities in the field and internally.
• Ensure inspectors adhere to all safety protocols.
• Manage the collection and analysis of data received from inspections.
• Ensure QA/QC throughout the inspection process.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management including written reports.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Collaboratively resolve onsite issues with the contractor and project manager and promptly respond to client inquiries.
• Monitor resources to ensure inventory is maintained at appropriate levels.
• Must have the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects across two divisions simultaneously.
• Prepare and submit as-built plans, valve, hydrant and tap cards to GIS.
• Provide support to inspectors.
• Create work orders and customer notices for water service disruptions.
• Review in-field changes and report to Construction Coordinator.
• Create task orders.
• Preform pre- and post-construction walkthrough for punch lists and project completion.
• Has stop job authority.
• Other duties as assigned.

CONSTRUCTION OBSERVER / COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, technical degree preferred.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of fabrication, installation and/or construction related experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Technology proficiency to include GIS.
• Understanding of construction trades and installation work.
• Understanding of engineering, architectural and other construction drawings.
• Desire to innovate and solve difficult problems from inception to final deliverable.
• Ability to utilize available company provided technology (field laptop, inspection equipment, etc.) and reporting programs.
• Ability to work independently and in team settings.
• Ability to pass background checks, drug tests and MVR check.

Physical:

• Must be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to make observations.
• Understands the exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
