The Compliance Analyst is responsible for daily involvement in multiple compliance functions including licensing, appointments, corporate authority, reporting, audit review, and ad hoc projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and exhibit subject matter expertise in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Meet statutory reporting obligations within assigned areas of responsibility
  • Maintain relationships with various state insurance departments and other regulatory bureaus/entities, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement appropriate measures of internal and external compliance within areas of responsibility
  • Develop and communicate company expectations to internal and external customers relative to assigned areas of responsibility
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain business processes and procedures within assigned areas of responsibility
  • Monitor new laws or promulgated regulations relative to areas of responsibility

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Research and analyze unique requirements resulting from new program managers, new products, or changes in insurance regulations
  • Develop processes necessary for the company and internal and external customers to remain compliant with new regulatory compliance requirements
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong analytical skills acting in tandem with an understanding of, and willingness to work with, others
  • A curious nature which applies critical thinking to solve problems and improve results by asking questions, listening to others, conducting research, considering multiple perspectives, imagining possibilities, developing and implementing solutions, and verifying results
  • The ability to produce accurate, on-time deliverables as both an individual and as a group member
  • Comfortable working in an environment with both routine, predictable, deadline-driven tasks and new, unscheduled, time-sensitive requests from internal and external business partners
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and direct compliance issues to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to self-check work, recognize one's own mistakes, revise one's conclusions and recommendations based on new information, and develop and implement controls to mitigate risk
  • Desire to understand a situation or problem as fully as possible, given constraints on time, information, or other resources
  • Ability to reprioritize workload and pivot quickly when required
  • Commitment to adhering to requirements and procedures for established processes as well as comfort working in areas with multiple unknowns and variables
  • Works with awareness, identifying patterns, anomalies, and deviations from the expected, and follows up with further investigation
  • Balances careful attention to detail with a broader perspective of how the piece fits into the whole and how proposed changes could impact internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be willing to learn new things and take on new responsibilities
  • Able to communicate complex ideas and plans clearly and succinctly; make things as simple as possible but no simpler
  • Able to analyze business needs and translate them into clearly defined action items
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal managerial input
  • Research and analysis of regulations and statutes in all 50 states
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Previous compliance experience strongly preferred
  • Previous insurance regulatory compliance experience preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance helpful
  • Knowledge of NAIC annual statement lines of business helpful

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five to seven years of business experience in a professional office environment required
