Job Description Summary
The Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of Pennsylvania is a world leader in developing and conducting innovative cancer clinical trials in radiation oncology. The Radiation Oncology Clinical Research Unit (RadOnc CRU) is instrumental in the development and implementation of cancer clinical trials that offer cutting-edge oncology treatments. The RadOnc CRU currently supports a wide range of disease and discipline specific cancer studies within Radiation Oncology.

Reporting to the UPENN Coordinating Center's Project Manager of the RadComp trial, a national multi-site randomized clinical trial (www.radcomp.org), the research coordinator will support the RadComp Call Center by conducting long-term follow-up activities (phone calls, data collection, and data entry) and collecting and tracking EHR source documentation from external facilities for approximately 1200 participants.
Position is contingent on continued funding. This position is hybrid eligible after successful completion of intro period and 6 months of service. Standard hours will be 10-6 or 11-7 with some evening and weekend work required.

Job Responsibilities

The Clinical Research Coordinator A will support the RadComp Call Center in conducting follow up activities for approximately 1200 participants. Duties include, but not limited to, collecting EHR records from participating institutions and external facilities, conducting follow up phone calls to participants, collecting and entering data into an EDC system, preparing monthly reports, updating SOPs, and preparing for audits.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the Clinical Research Coordinator B will also be required to develop CAPAs, assist in training new employees, and perform QA and data clean-up.

Qualifications

Required (CRC A):

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience in research and clinical study methodologies or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work collaboratively on all levels and to gain support of others
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking skills required; able to work under pressure and exercise mature judgment, be resourceful and take initiative.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in working with highly confidential and sensitive matter
  • Strong computer skills


Preferred (CRC A):
  • Experience with large data sets
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and relevant regulations for the conduct of clinical trials including Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) and Good Clinical (Research) Practice (GCP) Guidelines
  • Customer service experience


Required (CRC B):
  • Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of related experience in clinical research or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills; excellent technical writing, review, and analytical abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work collaboratively on all levels and to gain support of others
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking skills required; able to work under pressure and exercise mature judgment, be resourceful and take initiative.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in working with highly confidential and sensitive matter
  • Strong computers skills
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and relevant regulations for the conduct of clinical trials including Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) and Good Clinical (Research) Practice (GCP) Guidelines
