About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The main purpose of this job is to provide support, including administrative and clerical support, to faculty directors, supervisors, and students in the Dedman School of Legal Clinics, which provide legal representation and assistance to low-income clients throughout the DFW area. The person in this position will serve as the receptionist, greeting clients and visitors, answering phones, emails and handling mail, copying, running reports regarding and assisting with class and promotional materials and updates to the clinics' websites. In addition, the person will assist with orientations and recruiting events and provide Spanish language interpretation and back-up administrative support within the clinics, as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide receptionist services in English and Spanish: greeting visitors, answering phones and email, handling mail and copying, processing requests for legal assistance and routing to appropriate clinics
  • Word-processing and prepare legal documents for filing with state and federal courts
  • Provide Spanish language interpretation in person and over the phone, and translate client documents and other written materials
  • Assist students, faculty and staff with scheduling, including scheduling clinic-wide events such as pre-registration events and pre-semester orientations
  • Using technology to assist faculty and staff in updating clinic website, running case and client reports from case management software and developing flyers and newsletters that are appropriate for use on social media


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required.

A minimum of three (3) years of experience is required. Previous experience in a legal setting is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. Candidate must have the ability to learn new things and adapt to the demands of multiple supervisors and needs of a busy work environment.

Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
