Description:
The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of epidemiologic methods development and applications, with the ability to establish oneself as a research leader in the area of climate change and health. While both tenure and clinician-educator track faculty conduct methodological and collaborative research, tenure track faculty focus primarily on methodological research while clinician-educator track faculty focus primarily on collaboration. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Teaching responsibilities may include participation in departmental PhD, MSCE, and MS training programs. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring.
Research or scholarship responsibilities will include developing an independent, extramurally funded research program and/or serving as a key scientific collaborator in team-based science.
The Division of Epidemiology includes over 65 full-time faculty with either a primary or secondary appointment who have diverse expertise across many different health-related and methodological areas. Ours is one of three divisions constituting the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, an integral part of Penn Medicine, one of the nation's top medical school and academic health systems, with strong links to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the nation's top children's hospitals. The University of Pennsylvania's twelve schools share a compact urban campus, providing a vibrant, collaborative environment with unique access to health and biomedical data and clinical research collaborators. There are also exciting opportunities to integrate research programs on climate change and health within existing programs at Penn, including the Center for Excellence in Environmental Toxicology, Philadelphia Regional Center for Children's Environmental Health, and the Penn Environmental Innovations Initiative.
We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
