Job Description Summary
The Cleaner will work under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor and perform a variety of custodial duties for C&W Services. Such duties shall be in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures of C&W Services.
Job Description

The Heavy-Duty Project Cleaner is a position within the line of operations of C&W Services. The incumbent is responsible for performing the day-to-day and periodic cleaning activities in assigned work areas. Performs routine cleaning of general offices, restrooms, lobbies and corridors, and exterior areas, as directed, using prescribed procedures. Basic responsibilities may include any combination of the following: the emptying of waste baskets and ashtrays; dusting, spot cleaning, care of furniture, desktops, telephones, glass surfaces, upholstered surfaces; basic or advanced floor servicing (including buffing, sweeping, and vacuuming), cleaning of fixtures, floors, and walls; and the policing of waste in restrooms. Specific responsibilities for each individual are determined by client expectations, Account Manager/Supervisor discretion, and cleaner capabilities and experience.

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Dry mops, wet mops (wash/scrub and polishes) hard surface floors. The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with manual or power scrubbing equipment and the polishing is done with walk behind buffing machines. In large open applications, automatic equipment may be used to perform these functions

• Strips and finishes hard surface floors

• Transports garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor. The Heavy-Duty Cleaner will operate the compactor

• Transports cleaning machinery between floors and buildings

• Cleans bathroom floors including scrubbing

• Maintains and carries out preventative maintenance procedures on floor machines, vacuums, automatic scrubbers and buffers and larger self-propelled machines

• Shampoos carpets using extracting equipment or bonnet methods

• Operates machinery such as pressure washers and ride on sweepers and scrubbers in particularly large open areas

• Operates e lectric or battery-operated buffing machines

• Walk behind and ride on scrubbers and sweepers. (Battery & electric powered)

• Pile lifters and carpet extractors

• Ability to speak and read English is a plus and may be required by some clients

• Must be able to take direction, to work with minimal supervision, and to function cooperatively as part of a team

• Ability to use cleaning tools

• Advanced skills, such as hard floor and carpet maintenance, require six months to one year of experience

• Requires attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance
