Instruction & Classroom Support Tech - Chemistry TutorSalary: $18.20 - $24.23 hour*Classification: All ChemistryLocation: Bremerton (Main) CampusReports to: Director of Tutoring*This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.Olympic College is continuously recruiting for Chemistry Instructional Tutor positions that may occur throughout the year. This position will be responsible for helping students develop knowledge, insight, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in Chemistry course materials. Part-time positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Assist students in analyzing assignments and understanding class materials.Assist students in interpreting and understanding chemistry concepts.Assist students in the development of critical thinking and scientific communication skills.Assist students in the development of effective study habits and skills.Assist student working in an online format.Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.Qualifications

Minimum QualificationsReference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.High School Graduate, Equivalent or Current Running Start Student.Basic computer competency.Applicants need to meet at least one set of course qualificationsInorganic Chemistry:Completion of CHEM 141/151, CHEM 142/152 and CHEM 143/153 or equivalent courses with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or betterOrganic Chemistry:Completion of CHEM 241/251, CHEM 242/252 and CHEM 243/253 or equivalent courses with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or betterDesired QualificationsCollege teaching or previous tutoring experience.Successful Applicants willDemonstrate excellence in Chemistry.Follow campus regulations local, state, and federal laws, regulations and ordinances.Work various hours.Work successfully in a high-attendance, high-volume study center.Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.Establish and maintain effective working relationships.Be adaptable and flexible.Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation.Function as a team playerPossess excellent customer service skills; including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction.Possess an appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace.Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, vision and values.Demonstrate ethics, integrity and sound professional judgmentAdditional Information

Terms of Employment

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week. Hours worked are limited to 79 hours per month or 450 hours in a 6-month period. Flexibility in scheduling is needed to meet the demands of the department. The salary for this position is $18.20 - $24.23 DOE per hour. Part-time positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
