Job Description

The full-time Athletic Trainer/Field Manager position is a new and exciting opportunity to develop and implement an athletic training and facility management program for Centralia College. The Athletic Trainer/Field Manager will be an integral member of the athletics department, working collaboratively with coaches and athletics administrative staff to ensure the physical health and well-being of our athletes, as well as coordinate/facilitate field operations and maintenance. The Athletic Trainer/Field Manager will help design and maintain an effective treatment space and will use evidence-based and industry-standard best practices in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of injuries, and provide overall management of the College's new multisport complex.

Duties and Responsibilities

Athletic Trainer (50%)

  • Use evidence-based practices to prevent, treat, manage, and rehabilitate athletic injuries.

  • Document all treatments provided.

  • Implement and enforce concussion protocols.

  • Coordinate physician and medical staff referrals as needed for injured athletes.

  • Works in collaboration with athletes, coaches, and administrative staff to support athletes in return-to-play and for injury prevention purposes.

  • Manage daily operations of the training room, including supply and equipment inventory, maintenance, and organization.

  • Provide on-site staffing for all home athletic contests and respond to all injuries for both the home and away teams.

  • Document and submit athletic incident/injury reports to the appropriate campus authorities.

  • Comply with, and notify Athletic Director of any violations of, all applicable laws, and policies and procedures of Centralia College and the athletics department.

  • Strictly follow all college policies and procedures related to purchasing, security, and facility use.

  • Work within an established budget.

  • Work with Athletics Administrators on other duties as assigned.

Field Manager (50%)

  • Manage and coordinate turf field maintenance.

  • Schedule field use for College activities and community events.

  • Serve as point of contact for, approve and support facility rentals.

  • Track field usage and bill accordingly for facility rentals.

  • Oversee student workers and event staff in game management and facility maintenance activities.

  • Comply with and follow all applicable laws, and policies and procedures of Centralia College and the athletics department.

  • Strictly follow all college policies and procedures related to purchasing, security, and facility uses.

  • Work with Athletics Administrators on other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises student workers in game management and facility maintenance activities.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training, exercise science, or related field

  • (2) years of demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities OR
  • Equivalent education/experience

Certification/Licensure

  • Required: Certified by and in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), license issued by the Washington State Department of Health, or the ability to receive license prior to start date, and current CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications
    Master's degree in athletic training, exercise science, or related field

    (3+) years of demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities

    Multilingual, especially Spanish speaking

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Hearing should be within normal limits to be able to communicate with students and staff; and must have clear vision, with or without correction to constantly notice details.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Knowledge of FERPA and all other applicable laws and policies affecting athletic trainers in a higher education setting.

    Ability to focus, organize, and prioritize delivery of services.

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.

  • Knowledge of turf field maintenance practices.

Individual must be proficient in the use of computers, the internet, and be comfortable learning and adopting new technologies. Prior knowledge/experience with a majority of the above technologies preferred; ability to quickly learn and proficiently use the listed technologies may substitute for prior knowledge/experience.

Conditions of Employment

This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time professional technical overtime eligible exempt position. The salary is $50,000 - 60,000 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the TIAA/CREF retirement system.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $50,000 - 60,000 (DOQ/DOE)
