Your Role:

At MilliporeSigma as an Associate Scientist 2, you will perform a wide variety of routine tasks to support the virus production team in the growth of regulatory compliant virus banks, under the oversight of the lab manager.

You will be responsible for performing cell culture activities, virus growths, virus titration assays and virus decontamination procedures. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with support services, scientists and all laboratory personnel are critical for success in the role.

  • Trains and mentors newer members of staff
  • Works within the laboratory following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Performs cell culture activities and virus growths
  • Accurately and promptly records data to meet appropriate scientific and regulatory standards
  • Performs routine peer review of raw data records as required
  • Assumes responsibility for writing attributable minor non study related deviations
  • Works with the relevant personnel to provide support with minor events
  • Carries out housekeeping to ensure that laboratory compliance is maintained
  • Ensures equipment is maintained in the validated state
  • Maintains stock control in the laboratory
  • Performs environmental and personnel monitoring activities
  • Proactively implements improvements to laboratory processes
  • Revises SOP and lab records as required
  • Maintains laboratory logbooks, batch records and workbooks
  • Ensures a safe and healthy work environment at all times

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in scientific field (ie. Biology, Chemistry, etc) with 1+ years cell culture or laboratory experience
  • Associate's Degree in scientific field (ie. Biology, Chemistry, etc) with 3+ years cell culture or laboratory experience
  • High school diploma or GED with 5+ years cell culture or laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a scientific laboratory role, ideally within a contract testing laboratory environment
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite and LIMS
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamworking skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team-based environment and proven ability to work using your own initiative
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Pay Range for this position - $26/hr - $40/hr

Our ranges incorporate all levels and career types available within this specific role, and are derived from relevant industry market data. Should we decide to make an offer, we will consider several factors, including but not limited to your location, skills, experience, career level, and other job-related factors.
