The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is a dynamic and exciting place to work. This position offers an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission, and support of outstanding students as the Outreach and Recruitment team is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University. The associate director reports to the director of Outreach and Recruitment. The individual will be located in the Student Academic Services Building and will work closely and alongside a team of full-time staff members of approximately 30 and a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. Peak seasons are typically August through May given the cyclical nature of the work supported across Undergraduate Admissions. In office or hybrid work hours (3 days in office, 2 days work from home) can range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, but will require early morning, evening, and weekend hours at various times during the year given the role's direct work with outreach and recruitment programs occurring in varying international time zones.

As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team the associate director, in collaboration with the director of outreach and recruitment, builds strategy, oversees planning, implementation, and evaluation of domestic resident recruitment and counseling activities. Provides leadership and supervision of four staff members and provides leadership to a team of seven, provides leadership for staff planning as well as counselor, student recruitment and yield programs. Employs a comprehensive performance management process including on-going training, setting expectations through performance planning, provides on-going coaching/mentoring and evaluates staff; motivates and encourages staff to help set priorities, provide excellent customer service and support staff in their own career development; manages the personnel, operational and territory budgets of designated areas. Provides leadership in overseeing staff managing appointment, overview and phone coverage, plans strategy for training, customer service and presentation quality and customer service. Supervises staff implementing these services.

Provide leadership and management to the processes for staff who make recruitment calls to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices. Analyzes prospective student data. Learns and uses the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA), CRM (Salesforce), Student Information System, and other technologies to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student application information, call/email activity and other processes, performs data validation. Manages electronic workflows; develops messaging, trains and oversees the staff who coordinator territory management and counseling outreach; leads the high school visit and college fair planning and execution, CRM management, regional campus relationships, and policy development. Manages updates for high school counselor website and makes decisions on approvals for school counselor website access.

Manages a recruitment territory (e.g. domestic); executes territory specific recruitment activities and events in collaboration with partner offices using data, reports and analysis tools/technology. Travels to high schools, community colleges, and college fairs to represent Ohio State. Possible/extensive travel up to 8 weeks per year, potentially 1-2 consistent weeks in each semester.

Reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admissions recommendations through our holistic application review process that fluctuates through the year; coaches and monitors review progress for direct reports on an on-going basis.

Additional responsibilities the associate director will be responsible for include but are not limited to; counsels and corresponds with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding Ohio State admission policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, and in person; conducts large and small-group presentations; learns and maintains knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests; researches and resolves problems; assists with on and off campus recruitment events and projects; coordinate recruitment for special programs which may include College Credit Plus. Provides support to access on/off campus programs and initiatives; serves in place of director at designated meetings and programs; participates as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through membership on committees; completes special assignments and other duties as assigned.

Evening and weekend hours required.

Additional Information:

Required: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated success in supervision and team building. Prior experience in desktop and recruitment technology required. Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Desired: Master's Degree preferred. Experience with Salesforce CRM.

Salary: $64,300 - $84,550. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
