Job Description:


POSITION: Full-Time Associate Dean of Student Success & Retention (Associate Dean): Academic & Student Affairs Department; Haverhill Campus; 37.5 hours per week, Non-Unit Professional Position


SUMMARY: The Associate Dean is responsible for overseeing all student advisement and retention initiatives. Collaboration with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness will be critical in framing a data-driven model observing key metrics and goals to increase the college's graduation rate; fall-to-spring and fall-to-fall retention; and the taking of gateway courses with a well-planned approach. This position requires the Associate Dean to serve as a member of the larger enrollment management team, collaborate closely with other enrollment management leaders; academic deans; faculty; and offices/services that engage in this work. The Associate Dean will receive supervision from the Provost of Academic & Student Affairs and the Dean of Enrollment Management.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide leadership in the review and further development of our existing advisement policies and practices. Based upon experience and best practices, create a data-driven model.
  • Working with the Provost, the Dean of Enrollment Management, and our Governance body, create a seamless and inclusive advisement model that provides holistic advisement that is greater than simple course selection.
  • Collaborate closely with Academic and Student Affairs departments, faculty, and other college units to ensure alignment between software and a case management advisement model.
  • Manage the work related to the specific priorities of the Provost's Office including:
    • The Integrated Student Experience (NECC's student success plan)
    • Guided pathways
    • Online and face-to-face advisement from point of inquiry through graduation and transfer
    • Intentional outreach that includes Corporate & Community Education, ESOL, and Adult Education
  • Manage all advisement issues for the Provost and Dean of Enrollment Management including collaborating with the Academic Deans to promote retention and graduation.
  • Meet annual, reasonable retention goals.
  • Serve as a main contact at the state and national level with various organizations or initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Advancement on grant initiatives directly related to advisement and retention.
  • Work evening hours on either Tuesday or Wednesday during the academic year.
  • Engage in training and development related to national and Commonwealth best practices and accreditation.
  • Support faculty who are engaged in advisement.
  • Supervise and evaluate professional advising staff members.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree in a related field with seven years of successful advisement/retention work.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations including low-income, first-generation, and differently-abled students.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of/facility with appropriate software that promotes seamless advisement (i.e. Navigate).
  • Capacity to bring together a variety of offices and personnel into one cohesive advisement unit.
  • Ability and commitment to travel between our two campuses (Haverhill and Lawrence, MA).
  • A professional philosophy that places student success, equity, and strong advisement/retention at the center of the educational enterprise.
  • Experience in a supervisory role (Director, Chair, Coordinator, Assistant Dean, or comparable title) at a college or university.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A doctorate or terminal degree in a field related to this work.
  • Experience at a community college.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population.

BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment.



Additional Information:


SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $110,000.00 - $115,000.00 annually with complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits.
